It is inside the plastic housing on the block where the lower radiator hose attaches to the engine. It has one large nipple on it (lower radiator hose), one smaller nipple on it (not sure where that coolant hose goes), and has the coolant temperature sensor built into it.
The thermostat itself cannot be replaced...Ford decided to build it into one big assembly....$150 from Ford (as of 7/23/07). They can be found on-line though (EG: www.partstrain.com) for quite a bit less.

bad crank shaft position sensor
On my 1993 Ranger, 2.3L, it is a bolt between the two front wheels underneth the engine. Should be pretty easy to spot. The oil filter is on the drivers side of the engine, towards the bottom. Also easy to spot.
The PCV is located on the driver's side of the engine. It is at the same level as the spark plugs, in the middle of the engine. It is not seated in the oil cover. It is seated in the oil diverter.
