Just the thermostat and the gasket.
To change that thermostat you need to follow the top radiator hose to the motor from the radiator. It will lead to the thermostat housing on the block. The housing will be anchored with (2) bolts to the block (I think). Take the housing off and the thermostat is housed inside.you will have to replace it with a manufactured suggested thermo(probably 180* or 200 degree thermo).
If you need to replace the slave cylinder it is located in the bell housing and the trans has to be removed. The clutch master cylinder is located on the firewall on the drivers side

The thermostat on a 1984 ranger is located in the lower radiator hose housing connected to the engine, not the top like most vehicles..Fairly easy to replace. Just remove the bolts.. then the housing and the thermostat.
what sort of cylinder you want to replace?
To replace the thermostat, follow the return hose from the radiator to the black plastic encasement which witholds the thermostat. It is pretty tricky to unbolt it from the engine (there are two bolts, one visible and the other is underneath the plastic piece) but that is where the thermostat is located. Good luck
My 97 4.0 Ranger's thermostat is in the front of the engine. I has two bolts you have to take off. I had to replace the gasket. Leaked when I got on it hard. It's called the "thermostat housing. Thermostat is easy to replace. Great engine.
follow the top radiator hose to locate the thermostat housing, remove the hose from the housing then unbolt the housing. remove and replace the thermostat and rebolt the housing to the motor, replace the hose The housing is made of cheap metal and should be replaced. It is important to "seat" the thermostat properly. Also, it is much easier to replace and remove the thermostat housing if you first remove the timing belt housing.
