Its where the water pump is on the passengers side. The fact that the previous answer mentioned the passenger side of anything is about the most useful tidbit of the answer. To get to the thermostat, the easiest way to find it is follow the lower radiator hose from the radiator to where the rubber hose connects to a steel tube that runs under the engine, up the other side and ends up just under the exhaust manifold on the left side of the engine. To actually remove the thermostat is another matter. First, you need to drain the coolant from the lines. Then, you need to follow the metal tube half-way across the bottom of the engine and unfasten the bolt that holds the tune to the bottom of the engine. Then, you need to remove the heat shield that covers the exhaust manifold. From this point, you can unbolt the tube that holds the thermostat. One of the bolts you can actually see by looking down between the second and third exhaust runners. The other is closer to the front of the engine and you will have to remove this one by feel(the front of the engine is on the passenger side of the car because the engine sits sideways).
i have a 2001 olds alero 3.4 V6 and the thermostat on mine is underneath the throttle body...this may vary from your '99 vehicle, and it also may vary depending on your engine size
no egr valve on 1999 to 2001 2.4 alero
how do you replace head lights on my 1999 oldsmobile alero?
THERE IS NOT ONE.
Show me a diagram of the starter location on a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero
In the 2000 Alero, it is fuse 34 in the engine fuse box, which is located near the battery. You can check the same fuse for the 1999 Alero and see if that is it.
Yes the engine from a 2004 will fit a 1999 body.
you need to remove air filter and some of the exhaust pipe before u can get at it.
