Non 4.7L
Follow the top radiator hose to the top of the engine intake. The hose goes on to the thermostat housing. Take off the housing, the thermostat is inside. when you replace the thermostat, be sure it is oriented the same way as the one you removed.
4.7L, follow the lower radiator hose to the engine, it is under that housing.
show pic's of replacing thermostat on dodge durango
Contrary to every other car and truck that I have worked on, the 2004 Dodge Durango has its thermostat located on the bottom radiator hose. A close inspection of the bottom hose where it connects to the engine will show you the thermostat housing.
The thermostat on a 4.7L is under the housing where the lower radiator hose hooks to the engine.
Should be at the engine end of the upper radiator hose
99 Durango doesn't have a Heater Control Valve, It only has a thermostat
Usually in a housing located at the engine end of the upper radiator hose I have an 01 Durango with a 4.7 and the thermostat is in the lower radiator hose at the engine end.
Try in the housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose
Its located within thw housing od the bottom radiator hose....should be bottom left
The thermostat is located on the bottom of the the timing cover. crawl under the front end and look for the hose and housing. Its right in the front of the block.
Dodge doesn't have a 4.6L
It would, but it is not a good idea.
If the thermostat has failed it will need replaced.
