Look on the side of the transaxle for a plug, if this is a manual transmission. If it is an automatic, the fluid is added through the tube the dipstick is in. A manual transmission takes a heavy gear oil, usually about a 90 weight viscosity, and should only be filled until the oil begins to flow out of the hole. Check the level by inserting your finger into the hole. If it is right below the level of the hole, it does not need more oil. If this vehicle has several hundred thousand miles on it, it might be wise to drain the transaxle and fill it with new oil. If it is an automatic with more than 100,000 miles, flushing the transaxle is a good idea.
you can find it on the trans axle next to the starter, its in the owners manual...mike

it should be with the c -clamp that is already installed on the axle. if it don't stay on, the clamp may need to be changed.
Yes, it is located on the right axle shaft housing on the trans.
you have to remove the bottom bolt on the carrier bearing and then there is a spring clip holding that in place
If it is 4 wheel drive then there is a solid axle in the rear and a trans-axle in the front. the trans-axel has two CV shafts on either side connecting to the front tires. If it is 2 wheel drive then there is just a solid rear axle. and your front tires mount to spindles.
the axle or trans-axle
remove axle hub nut and tie rod to spindle connection. remove sway bar connection to control arm if present. pry/pound/press axle from hub, be careful not to damage threads on axle. Axle should hang loose at this point. Look for any bolts holding axle to trans, but should not be present on this car. Pry on inner part of axle between trans and axle end. Pry hard enough and it will pop out. Pound axle back in from outer end, be careful not to damage the axle and get splines lined up
where is the trans axle 2004 vue
I have found that if your lower trans axle mount has separated from the trans axle the trans axle itself drops down about three to four inches thus taking the trans axle out of alignment making it impossible to shift into reverse.
Yes , the transmission on a front wheel drive car is called the trans axle
