The transmission filter is located under the transmission on a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. it is under the transmission drain pan.

Per my local Hyundai Shop this model does not have a serviceable filter, therefore you only drain and fill this transsmission.


If you follow the fuel line from the fuel tank to the engine you will find the fuel filter unless it is a permanent filter that is located in the fuel tank. I suspect you will find it has a permanent filter.


It is mounted on the fire wall under where the intake goes into the injector body.


Take out the bolts around the transmission pan and remove the pan. The fluid will come out during this so have a pan ready. The filter is inside the transmission and visible when you drop the pan, also replace the pan gasket.
