That depends on which speed sensor you are referring to. There are 4 ABS speed sensors, an idle speed sensor, an engine speed sensor, and a transmission speed sensor that I know of. As far as which one runs your speedometer, I believe that is the vehicle speed sensor mounted on the housing of your transmission. I have the same vehicle and the same problem. I have the same question as you as well. I have been doing some research and I have told you what I found. My tachometer and speedometer are not working. If anyone else knows anything different, I am sure both of us would appreciate it.
The sensor is located below the thermostat housing and is on the right side facing the vehicle. It is a little difficult to see and appears just as hasr to change due to limited space
The oxygen sensor is located just upstream from the catalytic converter. Crawl under the vehicle, and locate the catalytic converter, after the exhaust manifold and before the muffler. There should be a four wire sensor there.
It is on the inside of the valve stem.
The external air temperature sensor on a Chrysler PT Cruiser is located in the front of the motor. It is in the air intake tube that goes from the air cleaner to the motor.
the crank shaft sensor on 06 pt cruiser is located underneath the starter. It's a very tight spot, to remove you need a 8mm socket and you have to unplug the sensor once is out...Don't foget to disconet the battery.
It does not have a crank case sensor. It does not have a crank case sensor.
There are two in the exhaust on the back of the engine.
The vehicle speed sensor is located on the transaxle
The vehicle speed sensor is located on the side of the transmission. The sensor will be on the right hand side of the transmission, and should be labeled as such.
It is the three wire sensor on the driver side end of the cylinder head.
There is no vehicle speed sensor wire. The transmission computer calculates vehicle speed from its output speed sensor and sends that information on the communication wires to the cluster.
On a 2004 Ford F150, the vehicle speed sensor is located on the driveshaft of the transmission. Some models of 2004 Ford F150s use an ABS sensor instead of a vehicle speed sensor.
