Where is the water pump on a 2001 jetta vr6?
The water pump on the VR6 is located on the engine. To access, you have to remove:
1) Engine Cover
2) Center and right insulation trays
3) Drive belt
4) Breather hose on cylinder head cover
5) Drain coolant
6) Support engine, and remove bolts from engine mount
7) Lower engine until pump can be removed
8) Remove pulley from pump
9) Remove bolts and push engine to side to get the pump out
It is about a 5 hour job.

Almost all the later model Volkswagen models suggest running higher octane fuel for optimal economy and performance. Especially the VR6 or W8 powerplants. Is the transmission control module on the 2001 vw jetta vr6 the same for the 2000 and 2002 vw jetta vr6?
99-1/2, 2000, 2001 use the same transmission control module. I believe the 2002 is the same as well. If you can locate one from a junk yard you will save yourself a lot of money. You need to make sure that the engines are the same. A new TCM will not carry the same part number as the old TCM because a more universal part was made to fix a problem that existed with it.
