Diesel fuel is hygroscopic and absorbs water. It's not unusual for diesel vehicles to have water in the fuel. Use a fuel conditioner and water remover, and use the water separator drain if it has one.
Should be located at the top rear section of engine - unscrew, remove and clean water separator

In my 1986 F350, I replaced a the 6.9 diesel engine with a 1989 7.3 diesel engine. Everything fit. BUT I had to used the glow plug system from the 6.9 system
The high pressure oil lines on top of the motor under the fuel and water separator are rubbing together and causing holes
The diesel engine available in the 1984 Ford F-250 is a : ( 6.9 liter / 420 cubic inch / V8 diesel )
