It needs to be filled to the top notch (above the hatched section, but not above the notch) on the sqaured end of the dipstick. Make sure to wipe it clean and dip it with the engine off before reading your oil level.

How do you check the oil in 99 lincoln town car?

For an accurate reading, after the car has been sitting level and cooled off, open the hood, locate and remove the engine oil dipstick (should be on the drivers side of engine). The dipstick will be marked where the full line and add line is. The engine oil level should be anywhere between the full and add mark. Add one quart of motor oil to the engine if level is at or below the add mark.

Why would the front differential dipstick get pushed out and spray oil on a 99 Subaru legacy outback It has been -30 and my car hasn't ran for a couple days When it did start it did this?

The reason for a oil spray out of the front differential dipstick in a 1999 Subaru Legacy is because of the cold. While it was -30 the car oil thickened, when the engine started and tried to pull the oil through, pressure was created. The engine was not able to pull the thickened oil in and the pressure pushed the oil out of the dipstick.

Why does 99 Mercedes ML320 dipstick smell like gas but leaking oil does not?

If the dipstick of a 1999 Mercedes ML320 smells like gasoline there could be a gas leak dripping into the oil pan. The engine needs to be checked for leaks to avoid any serious damage to the vehicle.
