it will be facing the number one cylinder plug wire on distributer cap,#1 cyl will be the one at the front on the driver side
With the #1 cylinder on top dead center (TDC) of the compression stroke, the rotor should point to #1 on the distributor cap.
When the #1 piston is at TDC./ TOP DEAD CENTER on the compression stroke the rotor should be pointing towards the #1 cylinder when the distributor is installed correctly.
rotor should point to cylinder #1
rotor will point to #1 at TDC.
on top dead rotor should be pointing at #1

As on any automobile engine, the rotor turns in a 360 degree circle. When the piston for the number one cylinder is at top dead center on the compression stroke the rotor should point to the number one spark plug tower of the distributor cap.
if the number one piston is at top dead center the rotor should point at number one spark plug wire and rotate toward the next spark plug wire in the firing order.
the rotor should point just to the driver side of the front of the block while the engin is a top dead center, there will be a timing mark on the harmonic balancer for find this, then there is only one way for the distributor cap to go on, the front driver side is #1 cylinder
The cap and rotor are considered wear items and should be replaced. No repair options are practical.
Brake rotor? 2 wd? Remove wheels Remove caliper mounting bolts Slide caliper off rotor rotor should "peel off" hub If not "peel off" type Remove center dust cover from hub Remove cotter pin Remove slotted washer Remove nut and washer (bearing will fall out) Rotor will slide off spindle
wire that as number one or pull dist. and fix.
