The NT makes no mention of Mary's husband Joseph beyond Matthew 2, Luke 4 and John 6, and some of those mentions are in retrospect. The common (and reasonable) assumption is that Joseph had died by the time of the crucifixion.

It does not say, but it is often assumed he had passed away by that point, because only Mary was at the Cross, and because Jesus committed her to the care of John, which he would not have done if her husband was still alive. Joseph by tradition was several years her senior, and had he been alive, would have been in his sixties or even seventies, but that is not dealt with in The Bible.

The last time Joseph is mentioned in the Bible is when the 13-yr old Jesus had stayed behind in Jerusalem, so this means Joseph could have been dead for up to 20 years since Jesus was about 33 when He was crucified at Calvary.

He had apparently passed away some time before Christ began his public ministry as there is no mention of him in the New Testament after the finding of Jesus in the Temple when he was about 12 years old.

It is believed that Jesus' step-father Joseph was already dead by this time -since Jesus had to ask John to look after His mother Mary.

Are you referring to Jesus's father Joseph? We don't really know, but Christians assume that Joseph died before Jesus began his public ministry.

I believe he died when Jesus was younger, so Mary was thus a widow

I think Joseph may have passed away when Jesus was 29 and was about to go to be baptized by his cousin John the Baptist.
