Woodstock took place in Bethel, New York on a farm owned by Max Yasgur. Moved at the last minute from the original site in Woodstock, N.Y. when the site suddenly became unavailable.

Woodstock Ventures never planned to hold the festival in Woodstock, NY. It was originally planned to be at Mills Industrial Park in Wallkill, NY. The residents of Wallkill opposed that. So Woodstock was held in Bethel, NY on Max Yasgur's farm (that part you got right.
