In 1805 Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson destroyed the combined fleets of Spain and France near the Cape Trafalger on the coast of Southwest Spain.

Admiral Nelson was killed in the battle. His body was packed in a cask of brandy and returned to England for burial.

His ship, HMS Victory, is the oldest ship still in commission in the Royal Navy. She is on display in Portsmouth.
