Where would you start if you wanted to replace the stereo and all the associated wiring in a '96 Ford Contour GL?
Removing the radioThe 1998 Contour radio requires nothing more than the standard Ford DIN tools - about $4-5 and available at places even like Walmart, and of course auto parts stores.
Using the tools - Insert one of the tools into each pair of holes on the face of the radio - you'll feel a bit of a click when the tool hits the right spot. Push outwards on the top of the tools while pulling the radio out from the dash.
Once you've done this a time or 2, it'll take 30 seconds to pop any Ford radio out.
Disconnect the wiring harnesses and antenna.
I agree with the recommendation for Crutchfield.com! I've been a very very happy repeat customer of theirs for years. They make it simple, and have outstanding service, prices, products, support information - you name it, they do it right. :)

AnswerTry www.crutchfield.com. They probably have a wiring harness for your car and they will have a whole line of stereos to fit your car.
1997 contour that has a 2.0 zetec in it and it gives me a p1383 code i timed it with no improvement i wanted to know if a bad injector could give this code thanks for any help?
If you are trying to fit a normal stereo in the car instead of the factory fit, just cut the power antenna cable on the stereo harness not the car cables, I believe its normally blue, and swap the yellow and reds around so red goes to yellow and yellow goes to red then your alarm will work properley. If that's not what you wanted then I wasted my time lol
What is the answer to the jumble puzzle in The Town Talk Alexandria LA newspaper on Saturday 02-11-2012?
I have a 1990 929S. I have never had a problem with the security system, at least not that I'm aware of. However, when I first bought it, the stereo didn't work for about the first month. People kept telling me to take it to the dealership. They wanted $50.00 to deal with it. Out of desparation to keep my hard earned money, I stuck a CD and a casette in at the same time…
