There are two current technologies in use for 3D television.
Active 3D requires battery powered glasses and allows full HD resolution images to be used. Recently, active glasses have become much lighter and more effective than early models. With the full HD resolution, most manufacturers have opted to use active 3D.
Passive 3D requires polarizing glasses without batteries and delivers half the vertical resolution of HD, namely 540 lines. LG offer a range of passive 3D but are not able to supply any active models.
