Many alcoholic products are produced through distillation. Distilled products are normally your higher ABV/proof products such as spirits (Vodka, Brandy, Gin, Tequila, Whiskey, Rum). Liqueurs, fortified wines etc generally take one of these base spirits and add, through various methods, additional flavours as well as reducing the alcohol content.
