Denmark, Sweden, and the UK have opted out of the euro currency. Some of the newer EU members have not yet met the conditions to join the euro, but are pledged to do so in the near future.

The 24 countries that use the euro are:

Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Vatican City

The Euro is widely accepted in Switzerland, Jersey,Guernsey, Eurostar train services between London and Paris, Cross Channel Ferries, airlines flying from eU countries into UK airports-St.Pierre et Miquelon (French island off Canada)

Martinique, Guadeloupe.

Euro notes are said to be used by Mexican gang members, when buying arms.
