It really depends on what breed your dog is. Some breeds have undercoats and can naturally protect themselves from the cold; some do not. Siberian Huskies, for example, naturally have undercoats and Dalmatians do not. To be sure, check what breed of dog you have and read up on it. There are vario…us resources online which can help you on this. If you're still unsure, ask your question again here but be more specific about your dog's breed. Answer Depends on the breed. If his coat was made for cold weather (ie: thick and fluffy)then he doesn't need it. But it can never hurt. He may enjoy looking fashionable. Answer Yes, for small dogs with short hair it's a good idea if it's super cold out. Small dogs under 10 pounds to tea-cup sized dogs can get chilled easily. Larger dogs don't need sweaters. Dogs will adapt to cold weather by growing thicker fur. Thisthicker fur will keep the dogs warm when it is cold.
Most animals in precipitative conditions have umbrellas growing out of their ears for obvious reasons. Some have evolved through natural selection to have developed rain resistant membranes whilst others wear mackintoshes and galoshes. However for windy weather, fish have developed vents in their ne…cks to allow wind flow. Many species, to combat the old, take a hot beverage before sleeping to keep them toasty. ( Full Answer )
The American Kennel Club will not acknowledge a litter from a male dog that is less than 8 months old. With every breed it varies the actual age they average to be when they are able to procreate.
Sledge dogs are naturally adapted to cold weather. They are generally the breeds (Huskies, Malamutes) that have very thick fur, and are very strong, and can deal with the extremes of ice and snow. Sled dogs are also well-trained..
Schnauzer dogs can survive in cold weather as long as their coat iskept intact. It is common to shave them down to give them theirdistinctive appearance.
Dogs can keep warm in cold weather because of their fur is thick, or their owners put coatrs on them.
Yes horses can suffer heat stroke if left out in the sun for too long. Some native horses and ponies can survive winter without rugs but do need trees or some type of shelter from the cold .
Some of the low shedding dogs that don't need professional grooming: Basenji, Affenpinscher, Chinese Crested, Dandie Dinmont Terrier, Havanese, Maltese, PBGV (Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen), Yorkshire Terrier, soft coated Wheaten Terrier, smooth coated Fox Terrier, Boxer, Tibetan Terrier, Silky Te…rrier, Hairless Chihuahua. Low shedding dogs that may need professional grooming: Airedale Terrier, Poodle, Schnauzer, Cockapoo (cross, Cocker Spaniel and Poodle) There are many more, but that will give you an idea. If allergies are the problem, note that it isn't the fur of the dog, but the dander (dandruff-like) from the skin of the dog on the hair, as well as urine and saliva that cause allergies in people. Take your battery to Napa and have them test the cold cranking amps, they'll tell you whether or not you need a new battery
No. No dog should live outside. The weather and seclusion can cause health and temperament problems.
No, not necessarily, but bigger dogs need more food than smaller dogs, and some dogs might prefer one food to another.
What dog breeds are good for agility Not what they need to be agility dogs But good breeds for agility?
Herding breeds such as Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, Corgis, Australian Kelpies, Queensland Heelers, Australian Cattle Dogs, Shetland Sheepdogs, and others have a *tendency* to have the traits that make good agility dogs: Eagerness to work, agility, speed, trainability. However, not all d…ogs of these breeds necessarily have these traits, and there are many other breeds where some or many of the individual dogs might have these traits. For example, many Papillons are amazing at agility, and so are some Poodles (of all sizes). Other working breeds might have some or all of those traits, such as Dobermans, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Chesapeake bay retrievers, Springer Spaniels, and many others. Don't just get a dog for agility though, you need to be able to love it, even if it turns out hating agility. I have a dog agility course myself and a doberman she is still young so you must be very patient with your dog while doing the course. ( Full Answer )
most dogs, no, so dont leave it outside, but some breeds like huskies are made to be able to stand the cold, however they can and will eventually get cold
\nWell, not necessarily...if you just want to breed your dog because you want puppies that you will keep or give away for no reason, you do not need papers for her...but if you want to breed her professionally and with a professionally bred stud, then you do need papers proving that she has no healt…h issues and that she is a purebred. You will also need papers if you would like to enter her in showmanship competitions, or if you would like to enter her puppies into competitions like wise. ( Full Answer )
At the appropreiate age for a Bitch to breed would be around the age 9-10 months. This is usually where the Bitch, would go into her first heat also allowing the eggs to be fertile. You can tell when the dog is in heat because the bitch will bleed for 1-1.5 weeks. While she is bleeding she cannot ble…ed but for a week or so afterwards she is ready for breeding I do not think you should breed her right away at that age; only because she is still a pup herself. Allowing the Bitch to breed at the age of 1-2 years will give her the oppertuninty to grow up and to have the proper nutrients for the pups to consume. But be sure to keep a close eye on the Bitch While being in heat. You wouldn't want a stray to come along and mate. Also be sure the Sire of the soon to be pups is the correct size. For the Bitches safety only because if your not carefull the pups could become to large for her a kill her during birth. ( Full Answer )
Most areas now require a breeders license. Breeding dogs is not something to undertake without a complete knowledge of the breed everything that breeding entails.
yer i walk my dog when it is pouring and i walk him near a lake and he jumps in it. but when you get home make shore you dry him (if he is wet) and keep him inside so he can warm up.
No. They are better suited to cold weather than most other dogs, but they do well in other climates too.
It has been my experience, that it is best to wait until your dog is fully mature before mating. At least 1 year of age. They are better able to carry the pregnancy, safely deliver and care for their puppies at over 1 year old.
No; dogs are not small humans and do not react to human medications well. Over the counter pain medications for humans, like Tylenol, are actually toxic to dogs and can kill them even in small doses. If you suspect that your dog has arthritis (joint pain), you should take your dog to your veterinari…an and he/she can prescribe a pain medication that is safe for your dog to take. You can also make it easier for your older dog to handle cold weather by providing warm blankets for him/her to lay on or providing heat to his/her resting place through the cold weather. Remember that dogs with long hair coats (German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, etc.) will tolerate the cold much better than humans while short-coated breeds (like Chihuahuas, Boston Terriers and Boxers) will be more like humans in their reaction to cold weather. The answer is NO. For a dog to get Canine Influenza which is a 'virus' it must be exposed to a source of that particular virus. Being exposed to the Cold will not give an animal a virus type bug.
Their fur keeps them mostly warm in the cold and if they do start getting cold, they will limit their activity.
It can, just like peoples' skin can be dry and chapped some dogs paw pads are the same way.
I certainly can say that doberman dogs are maybe the beats dogs that can stand the heat and dogs like huskey and akitas are cerainly can not tolerate the heat as good as thin coated dog such as dobermans , staffy and pitbulls
My pug goes outside without clothes because she hates them and is just fine granted in the winter she isnt outside very long. If your puggle isnt going to be out any longer than to do their business then it really doesnt need it but if it will be outside and it is below 35 degrees F, for more than a…n hour I would give it something to warm up with. Mine has a heated dog house it can go in also my GSD shares the dog house with my pug if she is outside a lot. (the barn cats like the heated dog house too and they all cuddle together when its cold out) ( Full Answer )
Any horse can live out in really cold and wet weather as long as the horse is not clipped and with a natural coat, with blankets it is hard for a horse to regulate its body temperature when the blanket is removed in cold weather. Any and all breeds of horses will grow a thick winter coat to bare the… cold weather. ( Full Answer )
youcan if you want to but you don't have. I'm only 11 and I know this
Of course because natraully they are suposed to be out their. However they have to find a way to stay warm
Get an insulated dog run, kennel them in a heated garage, get a doggie blanket, or keep them indoors.
Essentials: Gloves, scarf, hat, coat, boots. Nice to have in the cold: leg warmers, neck warmer, ear muffs, gloves, scarf, hat, skiing coat, fluffy boots.
You can take off your dogs sweater by pulling the back off the sweater to dogs armpits and then slowly and gently remove the arms when that is done just pull the shirt off of the head and your done. I hope this helps
it's not a prefect rhyme because weather has the h in it. it would be a close rhyme, so you could stretch a bit but it could work. letter, better, and fetter rhyme better though.
It looked like a Basenji. A lot. But it had a long tail and floppy ears. A mixed breed. Please help? *P.S edit this answer. I don't know how to add to this question.
Of course. First, they are DOGS too. because if you start your puppy off on the wrong foot, he will probably experience health problems later on.
I like to cradle 'em in one arm, and slip it over their head and front legs all at once. It works best if I surprise them with it...
It depends on the dog, and how long it is outside. A dog that has a thin coat of fur and is otherwise not made for cold weather will be effected much more than a dog with a thick fur coat and bred to withstand the cold (such as a Husky). A dog, without proper shelter and warmth from cold weather can… become sick. ( Full Answer )
Yes. In order for a girl dog to become pregnant and have puppies she must be introduced and bred with a male dog. The only other way a "girl" dog can be bred is through Artificial Insemination where semen is collected from a "boy" dog and is then frozen until the "girl" dog is ready ot be bred Then …the "girl" dog is taken to a Veterinarian where the vet will take a thin straw like tube of the "boy" dog's semen that had been frozen at an earlier date and will "inject" the semen into the "girl" dog's Uterus where the sperm can then fertilize the eggs that are ready to be fertilized in the "girl" dog's Uterus. However, this second option is very expensive in comparison, and not all veterinarians perform this service. Comment 'Boy' dogs are called 'dogs'; 'girl' dogs are called 'bitches'! ( Full Answer )
no they live in burrows and the ground gets warm in cold so they dont need heat but if u have a domestic pet rabbit u might consider making him a shelter or sumthing ;)
Of course who else does the sperm go in without the dickgoing in too fast
Any dog that has a high energy level would benefit from obedience training. However, any puppy will be a lot easier to handle if they have been given training at a young age.
i am going to say stews and soups, not only are they filling but most times they help you feel better if you are sick.
