The elements least likely to react with other elements are the noble gases, chemically inert elements in group 8 of the periodic table and so cannot react with other elements.

The noble gases are:-

Helium

Neon

Argon

Krypton

Xenon

Radon

The metallic elements Gold and Tantalum are also very non reactive but it does react under very high pressure or temperature.

The element least likely to react with other elements is helium (He). It is the first of the "noble," or "inert" gasses in column 8. All of these gasses have full electron shells, so they cannot add any more in a chemical reaction. They also have a high affinity for those electrons, or "electronegativity," so that are not going to share their electrons with any other element, either. Of the entire column, helium is the least reactive because its outer electrons are in the first shell -- closer to the nucleus than the other noble gasses -- and the negatively-charged electrons are strongly attracted by the positively-charged protons in the nucleus.

The noble gases, in column 18 of the usual modern periodic table. (A few decades ago, this was usually called column VIII.) The element names are helium, neon, argon, krypton, xenon, and radon.

Which region of the periodic table is least likely to react with other elements?

Group-18 elements least react with other elements. They are inert in nature. They are called noble gases.Elements in group 18 are less likely to react with any other elements. This group is made out of the noble gases. Its members are He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe and Rn.

Elements least likely to react with other elements are in this column are known as?

noble gases, or inert gases they are the same thing and they are group 18 they have full valence electrons so they are unlikely to react with other elements

Is hydrogen argon sodium nitrogen oxygen or clorine least likely to react with other elements?

Argon is the least likely in the list to react with other elements, because argon is a noble gas and none of the other elements in the list is.

These are the so-called noble gases.

Are atoms of group 16 elements more likely to gain or lose electrons?

OXYGEN because it has only one oxidation state of -2, all the other elements in the group have multiple oxidation states.

What element is least likely to combine with another element for form a compound?

The elements in the family Group 0 - Inert Gases (exc. Radon) will not usually combine with other substances, as this group is highly unreactive. Inert Gases; Helium Neon Argon Krypton Xenon (Radon)

Why is argon least likely to react with other elements?

Argon is chemically inert due to the presence of completely filled orbitals. So it is does not react with other elements at STP.

What is special about the elements in the same group?

elements are in the same group since they react similarly to other elements in that group.

Which elements are most likely to react with other elements?

The elements in Group 1 of the Periodic Table are highly reactive in water, and, only slightly less reactive in Oxygen. Group 2 elements are also quite reactive in Oxygen, but not quite as reactive as those elements in Group 1.
