Lord of the Rings is still extremely popular around the world today even after all these years, being a masterpiece of fantasy/fiction. Millions of copies of Tolkien's books have been sold, and millions of people have sat down to watch The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.
Probably Star Wars.
In the end, it's a matter of opinion, but Star Wars is bigger, more advertised, has more movies (6 as opposed to Lord of the Rings only 3) and is popular with most ages.
Middle-aged people saw it "when they were kids", kids saw "that show on Cartoon Network", and well not as many saw Lord of the Rings.
Great success! Tolkien's masterpiece soon became very popular and was made into a movie by Peter Jackson. Peter Jackson's film was also a great success and the extent of the film was perfectly staggering.
The great work will always live on in the hearts of true fantasy lovers.
200,000,000 sales.
And it appealed to millions of people. Its a classic tale of Good vs.Evil. Even hippies loved it (mainly because of the so-called anti war message and environmentalism).
Lord of the Rings...He's also a bit of a Star Wars Nerd!!.
A few of the biggest hits from 2002 include Spider-Man, Star Wars: Episode II, Lord of the Rings: Two Towers, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
According to Amazon's Best Sellers list, the most popular Star Wars toys or collectibles are Lego sets. The most popular lego set is the Star Wars X-Wing Starfighter for $45.60.
it has good actors and it is popular
Not very similar at all. The Odyssey is the story of Odysseus' return trip from the Trojan War, and Star Wars covers essentially two civil wars. While Odysseus is the main character, Star Wars covers the stories of several characters: Luke and Leia Skywalker, Han Solo & Chewbacca, R2-D2 & C3P0, Darth Vader, and Obi Wan Kenobi, just to name a few. Simply put, the movies do not match up enough in any respect to have any meaningful comparisons. But it might be worth your while to take a look at some comparisons in the Iliad. Specifically, the characters Obi Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker are very similar to the Iliad heroes Odysseus and Achilles, respectively. If you look more closely at the two stories, you might find more in common.
Bernard Hill was in The Lord of the Rings, but not in Star Wars.
I think it is a matter of opinion, I think lord of the rings is WAY better than clone wars. Star wars V.S lord of the rings is a tough question
They are both just as famous as each other

Well Star Wars was first released in 1977 while the first Lord of the Rings film was released in 2001. So Star Wars is 24 years older.
That is a matter of opinion but I would suggest Cinema Paradiso, Lord of the Rings or Star Wars trilogy.
The 1st Star Wars was exceptionally popular .
The Star Wars crime lord(at least in the movies) was Jabba the Hutt. As far as the books are concerned, I do not know.
The Hobbit is set about 60 years before most of the events in The Lord of the Rings. The Hobbit was published in 1937. The Lord of the Rings did not come out for over 20 years after that. It took Tolkien a long time to write the follow up.
