Yes, water has a higher specific heat capacity, meaning that it requires more energy to heat water to the same temperature as a piece of land. Water also reflects more incoming radiation. Land is dark, rough, and solid, which all contribute to the absorption of the radiation. Unlike water, land is unable to retain heat for as long as water.

This is one reason why people who live near bodies of water experience less temperature extremes than those who don't live near water. The water retains heat gathered in the summer during the winter (keeping the area warmer), and keeps an area cooler in the summer while it collects heat.

As a general rule, solids usually heat more quickly than water due to the unique properties of water molecules, which are relatively resistant to changes in temperature. Therefore land heats up, and cools down, faster than lakes and oceans.

No.

The amount of heat a substance absorbed is determined by its heat capacity. The specific heat capacity of sea water would be relatively high. Water has a specific heat of 4.18 J / K g. That means it takes 4.18 Joules of energy to heat 1 gram of water 1 degree Celsius (or Kelvin). Metals have a low heat capacity, therefore, it takes little energy to heat up 1 gram of copper for example. 0.39 Joules to heat 1 g of Cu 1 degree.

The heat capacity of land is lower than that of water. The exact heat capacity of land would depend on whether it was bare dirt or sand or rock or vegetation. No matter it would be no more than half that of water.

It takes more energy to heat water than land and, therefore, the land would heat faster.

Result: If you live beside the sea or a large lake you will enjoy less temperature extremes than people who live inland. In Summer the water will absorb a lot of the heat and you will have cooling breezes from the water during the day. The land will lose heat during the night and the breezes will flow in the other direction.

Land heats up more quickly than water, and also loses heat more quickly than water. This is why the ocean is still warm at the end of summer even when the land is cooling down. It also explains why the ocean is cold at the beginning of summer, even though the land is warm.

Land.

Because the specific heat capacity or the amount of heat that needs to be added to every gram of water to raise it by 1 Degree is greater than the specific heat capacity of racks and soil.Hence sea gets heated up slower than land.

Heat travels faster in water compared to land. This is why land is normally hotter than the sea during the day or night.

it does, but it also cools down quicker. so the earth heats up slower but retains the heat better

How does the sunlight warm the land air and water?

Land and sea are heated by absorbing radiant energy from the sun. Air is heated indirectly by being in contact (conduction) with land or water.

What happens to the molecules of air when they are heated?

they get exited and move faster than cold molecules

What is differential heating?

Differential heating is when one area (in meterological situations land) heats faster than another area (a sea or a lake). This causes air to flow across the border (the rising heated air pulls the cooler air into the volume it has vacated).

A forms when air over land cools faster than air over water?

land breeze

When the land gets hot it heats the air above it the heated air rises because it?

because its evaporating

Yes...

When the sun's rays strike land and water do they heat up as fast as each other?

no ,land gets heated faster than water.

land breeze - this happens at night

How do molecules in a hot air balloon act when heated?

When the air is heater, the molecules move faster and expand to fill the volume of the container.

What is movement of air from sea to land during day when cooler air from above the the water moves over the land forcing heated less dense air above to rise is called?

Land Breeze

What do you think happens to the air above the land when it is heated?

when land is heated, the air above it also gets heated, which makes it to start rising. This is due to the fact dat hot air is lighter dan cold one. this gives rise to a phenomenon nwn as convection current. this is the reason of presence of moderate climate in coastal areas.
