it is because wood is not a better insulator

metal heats up faster depending on the metal. suppose you are heating up aluminum,

it would heat up faster because there are more free electrons so it can transfer heat faster.

Bonding in metals in metallic due to which there are lot of free electrons present. As a result of the presence of free electrons, the fermi energy is higher. If the fermi energy is high, the conductivity increases. In glass, the bonding is covalent. There are no free electrons and hence glass is a bad conductor of electricity

Metals have free electrons, glass being a non-metal does not have free electrons. So,in metals conduction not only takes place by the vibration of atoms but also by the drift of free electrons. When a glass piece is heated its atoms absorb heat energy and vibrate in a higher amplitude and pass heat energy to other molecules.this continues till the entire arrangement of molecules known as lattice gets heated.Metals are also heated by this process but in addition to this they are heated by the drift of free electrons, that is,when the electrons absorb heat and start moving.By this process they transfer a part of heat energy to other molecules. So,metals are the better conductors of heat than non-metals.

No and yes. There are many metals that melt at a much lower melting point than glass, and then there are a few metals that have a higher melting point than glass.

Because metals have a large number of loose electrons, and that is what electricity is, a flow of electrons.

Good conductors of electricity are often good conductors of heat?

Generally speaking, materials that are good conductors of heat are good conductors of electricity. But there is a notable exception. Diamond, an allotrope of carbon, conducts heat better than any metal, but it is an electrical insulator.

Metals are conductors of heat and electricity?

Yes, but some metals are better conductors than others.

Is it true that nonmetals are good conductors of heat and electricity?

Some nonmetallic materials are good conductors, graphite being an example. In this form, it is considered a semi-metal for that reason. Normally, however, nonmetals are not good electrical conductors.

Will titanuim conduct electricity?

Yes, although there are better conductors of electricity, titanium is still a good conductor.

Why are metals better conductors than ceramics?

Metals are better conductors than ceramics because they have a large number of loose electrons. Electricity has loose electrons.
