A typical concert band size can range from anywhere from ten people to three hundred people. The total number of people is chosen by the director of the band.

There are standard numbers for most concert band arrangements. You need at least one person on each instrument part, but often two. Small "wind ensembles*" will have between 25 and 40 players while larger "concert bands*" will have between 60 and 150 players.

*Wind Ensembles are usually small, very select groups. Each part will have one or two people at most. Concert bands will have three to five people on each part and the scoring is usually heavier.
