Best Answer

Dual cores have two cores, and Quad cores have four. All the cores are on the same chip they share the same memory and data path to the motherboard.

A Dual core processor is basically 2 processors in 1, with some loss.

A Quad core is 2 Dual core processors in 1 ,so a Quad core would be twice as fast as a Dual core, while a Dual core is twice as fast as a single core.

I'm a big fan of dual-core systems. I think there's a clear and substantial benefit for all computer users when there are two CPUs waiting to service requests, instead of just one. If nothing else, it lets you gracefully terminate an application that has gone haywire, consuming all available CPU time. It's like having a backup CPU in reserve, waiting to jump in and assist as necessary. But for most software, you hit a point of diminishing returns very rapidly after two cores. In Quad-Core Desktops and Diminishing Returns, I questioned how effectively today's software can really use even four CPU cores, much less the inevitable eight and sixteen CPU cores we'll see a few years from now.

To get a sense of what kind of performance improvement we can expect going from 2 to 4 CPU cores, let's focus on the Core 2 Duo E6600 and Core 2 Quad Q6600 processors. These 2.4 GHz CPUs are identical in every respect, except for the number of cores they bring to the table. In a recent review, Scott Wasson at the always-thorough Tech Report presented a slew of benchmarks that included both of these processors. Here's a quick visual summary of how much you can expect performance to improve when upgrading from 2 to 4 CPU cores

Dual quad core means that there are two quad-core CPUs in the system, bringing the total number of cores to eight. A dual core CPU is simply a CPU that has two independent processing units inside.

The main difference between the two types of processors is the computing power available in both. The quad core involves more "pathways" that allow multiple strands of information to flow simeltaneously, while the dual core has 2 paths the quad has 4, this not only is 2 as powerful but actually a factor more efficient. The price diffence is notable as quad core is a noticable upgrade from dual core, but the performance increase is worth the price increase.

All other factors being equal, a quad-core will provide for better performance (as measured by operations per second) than a dual core.

Quad core vs dual core.?

A dual core processor would only be able to do a certain number of tasks at any one time, while a quad core processor can do twice as many functions, and can do them twice as fast. These features relate to the speed and productivity of your computer.

Comparism between hyperthreading vs dual core vs core 2 duo vs core 2 duoquad?

Hyperthreading refers to a single processor running multiple threads in parallel. "Dual core" can have one of two meanings. The first is simply two processors housed on a single chip. The second refers specifically to Intel's Pentium Dual-Core architecture, which is a specific family of chips. Like the Pentium Dual-Core, Core 2 is another family of Intel microprocessors (with a different architecture). This family includes: Core 2 Solo, Core 2 Duo, and Core 2 Quad which have one, two, and four cores, respectively.

Is a 1.5 GHz AMD Quad core Better than a Intel p4 3.20 GHz 32 bit system?

The AMD Quad Core runs at 1.5 Ghz. Multiply it by the amount of cores and you get 6 Ghz. 6 Ghz vs. 3.20 Ghz, which means the Quad core is better than the Intel Pentium 4.

What is the meaning of dual core core 2 duo?

A processing core is a complete, independent processor. Each core has its own ALUs, fetch-execute cycles, pipelines, and cache, but shares some support circuitry with the rest of the processor. A dual-core processor simply means that there are two independent processors in a single package.

Compare Samsung Galaxy S2 and S3?

Using the Samsung Galaxy S2 (I9100 was the most common variant), the Galaxy S3 is taller, wider, and a touch thicker. The S3 has a significantly larger and higher resolution screen (4.8 inches vs. the 4.3-4.5 inches depending on the variant of S2), quad-core (S3) vs. dual-core (S2), was due a newer version of Android OS (KitKat).

Which is better for playing games dual core or core 2 duo?

Answer is very simple and it is very clear that Intel core 2 duo vs Intel dual core any more similar. The similarity of names makes even many computer geeks confused when asked to do a comparison of Intel core 2 duo and Intel dual core.Intel Pentium D CPU comprises of two dies, each containing a single core residing next to each other on a multi-chip module package. The Pentium D consumes a relatively high power. It runs very hot and is not a good OverClocker.Intel Dual Core is the first dual-core CPU from Intel. The Dual core makes use of two cores on a single die i.e it has two chips in one package. It solves the problem of overheating ofIntel Pentium D without compromising on the performance.Intel Core 2 Duo processors are the next gen processors from Intel. It is developed with a new Architecture called Core. The new architecture of Intel core2 duo makes it a lot better processor that runs cool. Most importantly the Intel core2 duo is a super over clocker.

What is better a Dell Inspiron 545 or a Dell Inspiron 545s?

The Inspiron 545. Though its processor has a slower clock speed, it is a quad core vs the 545s's dual core. Also, don't quote me on it, but I believe that ATI's HD 3450 is better than Intel's Graphics Media Accelerator 3100. And also, the 545 has a 1tb hard drive, vs the 545s's 750gb hard drive. So the Inspiron 545 is better. - ElectroGoofy

How is the speed of current CPUs rated?

CPU's are now are rated in Ghz which means "Billions of Cycles per Second" Essentially, the more Ghz the processor has, the faster it will execute instructions. Older computers where rated in mhz which is a million cycles per second. For example, a 2.4 ghz processor is the same as 2400 mhz CPU, or a 500 mhz CPU is the same as a .5 ghz CPU. Single core vs. Dual Core vs. quad core ect, A core is what carries out the instructions. two cores doesn't necessarily mean that the processor will have twice the ghz, but twice the power if the program can take advantage of them.

Is the samsung glaxsy s3 better than the iPhone 4s?

What is the difference between the Intel Pentium 4 and the Intel Pentium Dual-Core?

Pentium 4 vs. Dual CoreThere are MANY differences between these two generations of Intel CPU's. Most notably, Duo Core CPU's possess two processing cores opposed to the Pentium 4's single processing core. While a Duo Core CPU may be operating at a lower overall operating frequency, it is still much more powerful then a Pentium 4 considering it's improved FSB speed, cache size, multiple cores, efficiency, etc.
