The oil pump on an engine Only supplies a volumn of oil to the engine. Oil pressure is formed by squeezing the oil past the bearings. Have you checked the oil pressure with a external mechanical gauge. DO NOT judge by the dash gauge reading. You may have pressure and your sending unit is defective.
The pressure is lower as the engine is at slower rpms. The oil filter could be clogged or the oil pump might be going bad.
A bad oil sending unit, a bad oil pump, low on oil, or an engine that needs rebuilt.
I feel sure you have checked to see that the engine has oil in it. You need to install an external oil pressure gauge, the mechanical type and check for pressure. If it shows that you have oil pressure then your sending unit is defective.
