The toucan can be found in the canopy layer of the rain forest. The canopy layer is the higher part of trees. Being high in trees allows these birds to build nests to avoid the problem of forest floor predators. Toucans eat mainly fruits and nuts. Their predators are lizards, snakes, jaguars, and birds of prey.
