Actually, no Mexican leader was against American interests in the region. However, two of them were targeted by the U.S. Government for assasination:

Francisco I. Madero, leader of the Mexican Revolution (1910-1913) ousted dictator Porfirio Diaz. He was a moderate who mistakenly, surrounded himself with hard-liners, and was eventually overthrown by general Victoriano Huerta, with the help of American ambassador in Mexico, Henry Lane Wilson. This event sparked the second phase of the revolution (1913-1921).

Francisco "Pancho" Villa, one of the revolutionaries during the conflict, made the mistake of raiding the border town of Columbus, NM. He then became the most wanted man by the United States, prompting a "Punitive Expedition" (1916-1917) led by general John J. Pershing which was deeemed a complete failure: Villa was eventually assassinated by orders or Mexican president Alvaro Obregon in 1923.
