∙ 12y agoThat all depends on the teenager. I have peers who only listen to the iTunes top ten, and a friend who loves music from the 50s. A lot of variation. Some bands I like (I'm in junior high) are Motion City Soundtrack and Single File.

How often do teenagers listen to music?
It depends on the teenager. Alot of them like heavy metal rock, while some of my friends listen to rap. Occasionally a teenager doesn't like either of these, but again it depends on the teen.
Why do people think music influences teenagers?
Because teenagers are young and impressionable. Especially female teenagers. Most women in general follow the crowd and other women for that matter. Young men follow the young women so teenagers general follow the same wave length. To answer you question I'll put it like this. Young girls listen to the bad music because it's bad and it's wrong. Therefor it seems exciting. The young guys listen to it because they want to be like those groups and act like they're bad so they can attract girls in their own age group. Don't be fooled. The bad boy image always works. People want what they can't have.

I would say that the majority of young people listen to electronic/House/Dub Music, I am 18 years old and i'd count myself to this majority. Most of my friends don't listen to instrumental music like "Red hot Chili Peppers" or stuff.. they prefer the latest remix of this new rihanna-whatever feat. song.. It kinda annoys me, because i love to listen to all kind of music (except Metal). It simply depends on in which mood i am at the moment.. if i want to have a nice evening with a girl, i prefer Jazz or normal Songs (for example Christina Perri or Adele) All in all i don't think you can generalize this big part of each of our's lives, and say that this music is "right" or "wrong". Music isn't about who listens to it the most often or which kind of music is the most popular.. it is simply about feeling the rhythm, getting into a good mood by listening to it.
