Autocracy is a form of government with a single leader. For Example: Country A is an autocracy Country B isn't an autocracy Or when comparing something to an autocracy, you use autocratic (similar or pertaining to an autocracy) For Example: Mum why do you have to be so autocratic when you run then house? What do you think of the current government? Pretty autocratic!
Did England transfer from communist nation to a monarchy or an autocracy to socialist nation or autocracy to a democracy or from an autocracy to a monarchy?
-- An answer -- With the caveat that "pure" democracy is unworkable (every person cannot decide every policy), representative democracy is somewhat superior to an autocracy, even an enlightened one, because an autocracy tends to benefit its own members to the detriment of those not in power. Invariably, an autocracy will be challenged by the disenfranchised within a population.
An autocracy is a government in which all power is in the hands of one person. It's hard to distinguish an autocracy from a dictatorship. An autocracy differs however from a totalitarian government because the latter is characterized by the desire of the state to control every aspect of everyone's lives, while the power isn't necessarily in the hands of one person.
