Either one. Depends on the rifle, ammo and shooter.
If this made sense I could answer better but if your asking for a date of a model 31 by serial you are better just looking at the date code stamp on the barrel. See related links for information on the Remington Society of America.
so we can know thing better
No way to tell- serial numbers are not unique to only one firearm. Need model- and for remington, they are better dated using the 2 or 3 LETTER code stamped on left rear of the barrel.
it should shoot 1inch or better three shot group at 100 yards. try different bullet weights.
It would be better to ask Remington that question.
A 22 with a long barrel would probably be better because it should go straighter.
It all depends on condition. The 32" vent rib barrel is a rare configuration, even in the Trap gun. If it is in 95% or better condition, it could easily hit $500-$600. sales@countrygunsmith.net
The Remington 572 is clearly a better gun but it's also 2x the cost!
Personal preference.
IMHO you would be better served by ordering a replacement manual for free on the Remington site.
If you need better accuracy, buy a Custom products 2 piece barrel. If you need better range, buy an Apex tipped barrel. If you need a lighter barrel, buy a Carbon fiber barrel, like the Azodin Carbon or Stifi MF.
A barrel roll is awesome and much better.
