What is the smallest of the seven seas?
It depends on when you ask this question. At various times and to various cultures the "Seven Seas" have been different: In Greek literature the Seven Seas were the Aegean, Adriatic, Mediterranean, Black, Red, and Caspian seas, with the Persian Gulf thrown in as a "sea." In Medieval European literature they were the North Sea, Baltic, Atlantic, Mediterranean, Black, Red, and Arabian seas. After the 'discovered' North America the Seven Seas were the Arctic, the Atlantic, the Indian, the Pacific, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico.
Asked in Oceans and Seas, Arctic Ocean
Which is the largest and smallest ocean in the world?
The largest ocean in the world is the Atlantic ocean, which is larger than all the other oceans combined. My guess is that the Artic ocean is the smallest, however, I believe that small oceans are referred to as seas. Of course, oceans are different from seas, being smaller, so you might not even care about seas. Either the Indian ocean or the Artic ocean. Look at a map at try to compare which looks bigger. Hope I helped somewhat. -f
