An example of his stubbornness was when he was just a boy during the American Revolution His home was captured by British soldiers and one British officer ordered the young Jackson to shine his boots. Finding it degrading Jackson refused and the furious officer struck on the face with his sword, leaving a scar that Andrew Jackson became quite fond of, actually.
