This is a statutory regulation which means the traffic sign is white. It typically reads:

  • KEEP
  • ------>
  • RIGHT

Or it may use the divided symbol with a line pointing to the right. Which means divided highway, keep right.

Although there may actually be occasional signs advising "slow traffic keep right" it is written into the motor vehicle code of most (all?) states that slower vehicles must keep to the right, and it is understood that everyone who receives a drivers license understands this basic rule.

There are two signs: "Keep Right Except to Pass" and "Slower Traffic Keep Right." Washington and New York use the first sign with "State Law" added to the top.
