The state that has produced more presidents than any other is Virginia. Eight presidents have come from that state, they are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor and Woodrow Wilson.

Ohio is in second place with seven: Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, James A. Garfield, Benjamin Harrison, William McKinley, William Howard Taft and Warren G. Harding.

New York is third with four : Martin Van Buren, Millard Fillmore, Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Mass - J Adams, JQ Adams, JF Kennedy, GHW Bush North Carolina, Texas and Vermont have 2 Presidents each -

NC - James K Polk, Andrew Johnson

Texas - Eisenhowere, LB Johnson

Vermont - CA Arthur, C coolidge.

The state that was the birthplace of more of the 43 U.S. Presidents to date (1789-2012) than any other state is Virginia. Eight Presidents were born in Virginia, although more than half of the eight were born before Virginia was a state.

Regarding the 18 U.S. Presidents of the past century (1912-2012), the most popular birthplace is a three-way tie among Ohio, Texas and Massachusetts (two per state).
