(The issue of whether the Southern Ocean is officially recognised still remains controversial.)

Three oceans touch Australia.

They are the Indian ocean, Pacific Ocean and Southern Ocean.

There remains some controversy as to whether the Southern Ocean touches Australia's shores, but Australian authorities do recognise that the continent is bordered on its southern coast by the Southern Ocean.

Australia is touched by the Pacific Ocean in the east, the Indian Ocean in the west, and the Southern Ocean in the south. There remains some dispute about whether or not the Southern ocean 'officially' exists.

The Pacific Ocean to the east and the Indian Ocean to the west.

Some people refer to the water immediately south of Australia as the Southern Ocean, but the northern most limit of the Southern Ocean is 60 degrees S latitude, well south of Australia.
