Yes the ROTC building was burnt down because of protesters from Kent State University protesting war.
It was temporarily shut down to protest SOPA and PIPA.
John Lennon.
A sit-in or sit-down is a form of protest that involves occupying seats or sitting down on the floor of an establishment. It is a non-violent form of protesting.
Social legislation slowed down because of the cost of the war.
After the protesters got tired of being beat with batons (back then called "billy or belly clubs" & "night sticks"), and hosed down with fire hoses, or gased (CS and tear gas); they began to try "sit-down" or "sit-in" strikes.
Students, like many teenagers, need to "protest" something; it's part of the "growing pains." They don't really have a "real need" to protest now...because they're NOT AT RISK OF BEING DRAFTED INTO THE MILITARY AND GETTING KILLED OR HAVING THEIR ARMS AND LEGS BLOWN OFF! Like they were during the Vietnam War. Those "students" had a need to "protest", they had DRAFT CARDS in their hands (which they often burned during their protests). Today's students don't have draft cards to burn. The only major event that occurred in '89 was Operation Just Cause, the invasion of Panama; and the Berlin Wall came down.
It was because of the US involvement in Vietnam, an increasingly unpopular and divisive campaign throughout the country.
The Vietnam War hurt his image.
