Do you mean that unless the flush is a royal flush it can’t beat ‘em jorver if it’s an ordinary flush made up on several suits then it won’t beat the four of a kind ?

In poker, suits do not have rank. Two royal flush's would tie. Otherwise with an A high flush you would go to the next highest card.

In order from best hand to worst: A royal flush (Ace-High straight of one suit) Straight Flush (A straight of one suit) Four-Of-A-Kind (Same rank) Full House (Three-of-a-kind and a pair) Flush ( Five of the same suit) Straight (Five cards in sequence. Ace can be high or low) Three-Of-A-Kind (Same rank) Two Pair (Two cards of same rank and another two of same rank) One Pair (Two cards of same rank) High Card (When none of the above is available your hand is based on your high card) In case more than one players holds the best hand, the one with the higher cards wins (for example, if both players have full house, one of them 3 Q's and 2 9'w and the other 3 9's and 2 K's - the first one wins)

When 4 of a kind hits the board in holdem and that is best hand no straight flush or royal flush what happens?

Hands are always formed with 5 cards, so even with four a kind a fifth card is required to form the hand. With the four of a kind no the board in hold'em every player will take their highest card to form the hand. This highest card is their kicker, and the player with the highest kickers wins. If two players have that same final card the pot will be split. For example, community cards: 7s 7c 7d 7h 9c Tom: 8h Ks Jack: Ah 2h Jack has four sevens ace-high, Tom has four sevens king high. Jack's ace is higher than the King so he wins.
