The year was 1621. The Plymouth colonists had their autumn feast, which was the first Thanksgiving supper. The Indians in question were from the Wanpanoag tribe. This harvest feast was a celebration of the cooperation between the pilgrims and the tribe.
As more English colonists came to settle in Massachusetts, the situation changed. Many of the new colonists were not friendly toward the Indians and settled on more and more of their lands.

Dependence on English goods led to more Wampanoag land sales, leading to increased tension between settlers and Natives. In 1675 three Wampanoag men were tried and executed by the British for the killing of a converted Wampanoag male. The Wampanoags began attacking English settlement's, and soon the whole region was in conflict.
