Who and when discovered Wisconsin?

There were native Americans in Wisconsin for about 10,000 years. The earliest people were the Oneota. These people eventually became the Sauk, Fox, Chippewa, Potawatomi, and Ho-Chunk (Winnebago). French explorer, Jean Nicolet, did not come to Wisconsin until 1634.
Wisconsin was discovered by Jean Nicolet in 1634, while looking for the Northwest Passage to China.
