Honorable John Peyton, Mayor of Jacksonville

Jacksonville University

75 Distinguished Dolphins

WHEREAS: Since 1934, Jacksonville University has been an integral part of the Jacksonville community, greatly impacting our educational offerings and our culture, economy, development and identity; and

WHEREAS: The educational, cultural and societal experiences Jacksonville University's student receive have contributed greatly to the overall advancement of our city, and our nation, impacting numerous industries, civic organizations and community nonprofit organizations; and

WHEREAS: In an effort to recognize Jacksonville University's 75th anniversary and to celebrate the impact of the University and its accomplished students, Jacksonville University and the city of Jacksonville are proud to honor the University's "75 Distinguished Dolphins;" and

WHEREAS: "75 Distinguished Dolphins" highlights the tremendous impact that 75 selected students, faculty and staff have brought to Jacksonville University, our community and our nation through positive societal and cultural change, excellence and success in numerous business endeavors, responsible and impactful civic accomplishments and generous philanthropic support and community involvement; and

WHEREAS: Members of the "75 Distinguished Dolphins" represent a variety of individuals and professions, and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN PEYTON, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of Jacksonville, Florida, do hereby proclaim February 2, 2010 as

JACKSONVILLE UNIVERSITY DAY

and urge all students - past, present and future - faculty, staff, trustees and Jacksonville citizens to show unwavering support of the University's impact on this nation, and serve as advocates for the continual development of Jacksonville University to even further enhance the local, national and international impact of the University and those associated with it.

JACKSONVILLE UNIVERSITY'S 75 DISTINGUISHED DOLPHINS

The following individuals have been selected as Distinguished Dolphins to help celebrate Jacksonville University's 75th Anniversary. The selected must have at one time either matriculated at Jacksonville University or be a former or current paid faculty or staff member of Jacksonville University. Nominees must have added significant value to the Jacksonville University brand statewide, nationally or internationally and demonstrated a high level of professional success and personal integrity.

Dr. Byron Adams, 1977

Internationally respected composer whose music has been performed around the world. Youngest person to achieve full professorship in the California State College System. Department of Music Chair at the University of California at Riverside. Widely published author on the subject of English music of nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Coach Terry Alexander

Thirty-year baseball coach has led his team to nine NCAA regional appearances and won six conference championships. Coached eleven All-American honorees, 49 all-conference selections and helped 44 players become draft choices by Major League Baseball organizations. Daniel Murphy (2004-06) became the fourth player under Alexander to reach the majors when he joined the New York Mets in 2008.

Mr. Donald Ames, 1959

A JU lifer. Student intern for former President Franklyn Johnson. Graduated into Institutional Development at JU before finally becoming Vice President of Development under then President Kinne. Masterminded funding of Howard Building, Swisher Theatre, Gooding Building, Nelms Science Building and the purchase of property north of campus.

Mr. Ronald Autrey, 2001

President and Chief Operating Officer of Miller Electric Company. State certified as an electrical contractor and general contractor in Florida. Served two four-year gubernatorial appointments to the State of Florida's Electrical Contractor's Licensing Board (ECLB) and is a past-chairman of the ECLB. Past president of the Master Electrician's Association and twice named the association's "Man of the Year." Current chairman of JU Board of Trustees.

Mr. Aaron Bean, 1989

Elected to Fernandina Beach City Council for two terms and served two terms as mayor of Fernandina Beach, the youngest in the city's history. In 2000, elected to Florida House of Representatives, served until 2008. Served as chairman of the Health Care Appropriations Committee, vice chair of the Future of Florida's Families Committee and on the Fiscal Council and the Economic Development, Trade and Banking Committee.

Dr. Bertrice Berry, 1982

Sociologist, author, lecturer and educator. Former host and co-executive producer of her own nationally syndicated talk show, The Bertice Berry Show. Appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, CBS Nightwatch, CNN's Crossfire and Sonya Live. Author of a best-selling memoir entitled I'm On My Way, But Your Foot Is On My Head as well as several other novels.

Dr. Walker Blanton

During his forty-year career as a history professor at Jacksonville University, established himself as a sought-after national author and lecturer on the subject of the old South and the Confederacy. Honored as JU's Professor of the Year, 1988-89.

Mr. Bill Boston, 1986

Hollywood orchestrator whose film credits include Under the Tuscan Sun, 3:10 to Yuma, Scream, Scream 2and I Robot. Worked on numerous network television series, including the Fox TV breakout hit King of the Hill.

Mr. Alex Boylan, 1999

Reality-TV star and winner of CBS's The Amazing Race II. Host and producer of WGN TV series Around the World for Free. Host of PBS series At the Chefs Table and "Rach to the Rescue" segments on the Rachel Ray Show. Winner of the JU Scott Amos Recent Alumni Award of Distinction in 2008.

Dr. James Brady

Sixth president of Jacksonville University after having served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. One of baseball's first bonus babies, who signed a $37,500 contract with the Detroit Tigers after graduating from Notre Dame. Spent the 1956 season as a pitcher for the Tigers. Now an arbitrator in North Florida.

Mr. Dee Brown

Attended JU from 1986-90. Spent twelve years as a professional basketball player in the NBA, primarily for the Boston Celtics. First round Celtics draft choice and winner of the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Member of the 1991 NBA All-Rookie Team. Sportscaster for ESPN, head coach of WNBA Orlando Miracle and San Antonio Silver Spurs, and currently head coach of Springfield Armor. Member JU Athletics Hall of Fame, number 4 retired.

Dr. Joan Carver

Former Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Political scientist. Researcher in urban government and politics. Prominent community leader and early activist for women in politics and military service. Nationally published author.

Mr. Michael Cascone Jr., 1965

Chairman Emeritus and former chairman and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida. During his tenure as CEO, BCBS Florida increased top-line annual revenue to $5.9 billion while growing the number of Floridians it served to more than six million covered lives. Former chairman of the JU Board of Trustees, now serves as trustee emeritus.

Captain Tracy Connors (U.S. Navy ret.), 1961

Author of more than eighteen books, including Baited Trapand Truckbusters, stories of the Korean War. One of America's foremost authorities on nonprofits. Authored the groundbreaking Non-Profit Handbook and The Volunteer Management Handbook. Military honors include Legion of Merit Award, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Naval Achievement Medal and six Meritorious Service Awards.

Mr. O. Wayne Corbin

Served Jacksonville University for three decades as Professor of Biology, Dean of Men and ultimately Dean of Student Affairs. Upon retirement, Mayor Tommy Hazouri tapped him to serve on several important civic commissions. Memorialized by a scholarship in his name at JU.

Mr. Tim Cost, 1981

Current President Jacksonville University (February 2013), former Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs for Wyeth (NYSE). Served in senior executive roles for Aramark and Bristol Myers Squibb. Only baseball player in JU history to throw a nine-inning no-hitter. Member of JU Board of Trustees.

Rear Admiral John Cryer, 1976

He served in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from August through November 2001 as Deputy commander for the Joint Task Force-Southwest Asia (JTF-SWA) to direct air operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom

Vice Admiral David Dorsett, 1978

Currently serving as head of Information Dominance for the Navy and Deputy Chief of Naval Operations. Earned numerous awards and decorations by the Department of Defense and Navy. Highest ranking JU NROTC alumni. Naval Intelligence Officer, Joint Specialty Officer, a specialist in Joint and Strategic Intelligence, and a qualified Surface Warfare Officer. Possesses significant experience in National Security Affairs and in Strategic Planning. Graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval War College and Armed Forces Staff College.

The Honorable William Durden

Attended JU 1940-42. First General Counsel for the consolidated City of Jacksonville in 1968. Wrote 264 of the 369 opinions that helped shape the new city government. Called the "John Marshall of consolidated government."

Mr. Jack Ford

Attended JU 1970-72. Son of former President Gerald R. Ford. Founder of OUTSIDE Magazine and Infotech Corp. Executive director of the host committee for the 1996 Republican National Convention in San Diego.

Mr. William Forsythe

Attended JU 1967-69. Internationally celebrated dancer and choreographer now residing in Germany. His works have been performed by The Kirov Ballet, The New York City Ballet, The San Francisco Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada, The Royal Ballet, Covent Garden, the Paris Opera Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet and the Royal Ballet of Flanders, among others.

Vice Admiral Paul Gaffney II (U.S. Navy ret.), 1986

President of Monmouth University since July, 2003. Naval career spanned three decades, including duty overseas and ashore in executive and command positions. In July, 2001 appointed by then President George W. Bush to the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy and served through the full term of the commission until 2004.

Founders of Garcia Facial Plastic Surgery Institute. Nationally-noted lecturers and published authors in their specialties. Creators of the Foundation for the Advancement of Children's Esthetics, which provides free reconstructive surgery to needy children who have suffered facial trauma. Phillip is a member of JU's Board of Trustees.

Mr. Artis Gilmore, 1971

Basketball legend. Voted one of top fifty players of the twentieth century by The Sporting News. NBA all-time field-goal percentage leader. Top left-handed scorer in pro basketball history. Two-time college All American who led JU to the NCAA Championship final. Averaged more than twenty points and twenty rebounds per game during his career at JU. Charter member of JU Sports Hall of Fame, number 53 retired.

Ms. Helen Glenn

Former JU Director of Financial Aid. World War II Major, U.S. States Army Auxiliary Corps. Commanded first U.S. battalion composed entirely of women. Executed top-secret operations in intelligence. Served in England during the Blitz and in France during the Battle of the Bulge. Honored in 2008 with the American Patriot Award.

Mr. Donnie Hammond, 1979

Professional golfer, long-time member of PGA Tour and winner of the 1986 Bob Hope Desert Classic and the 1989 Texas Open. Has 41 top-ten and 126 top-25 tournament finishes to his credit. Earned PGA qualifying medal by a record fourteen strokes in the 1982 Qualifying Tournament at TPC-Sawgrass. Charter member of the JU Sports Hall of Fame.

Mr. John Harrison, 1967

Former chairman and CEO of Direct Market Concepts, Inc. one of the largest direct-marketing companies in the Southeast before being acquired by Harte-Hanks Communications. Past Chairman of the Board, Gator Bowl Association. As Trustee chair to committee on athletics is responsible for rebuilding JU athletics department to a position of national prominence. Member of the JU Board of Trustees.

Ms. Natasha Harvey, 2009

Most decorated athlete in JU history, with six combined All-American awards for indoor and outdoor track. Led Dolphins to eight consecutive conference championships (four indoor, four outdoor). Named A-Sun Student Athlete of the Year 2009. Two-time performer for Team USA. Candidate for 2012 U.S. Olympic track team.

Mr. Hurley Haywood

Attended JU 1967-68. American race-car driver. A three-time winner of 24 Hours at Le Mans endurance race and history-leading five-time winner of 24 Hours of Daytona. Raced in 1980 Indy 500, finishing 18th. Serves as Vice President of Brumo's Automotive and Chief Instructor for the Porsche Driving Experience.

Honorable Tommy Hazouri, 1966

Former Mayor of the City of Jacksonville, 1987-1991. Laid the groundwork for NFL football in Jacksonville. Served as a member of the Florida State House of Representatives for ten years, serving as chair of the House Committee on Education. Serves on the school board of Duval County Public Schools.

Mr. Bruce Helford

Attended JU 1971-75. Prolific TV writer and executive producer who created the long-running ABC hit series, The Drew Carey Show and George Lopez. Created network-TV series for Norm McDonald, Wanda Sykes and Nikki Cox. Executive producer of Rosanne. Sponsors JU's national playwriting competition, the Helford Prize.

Mr. Mike Hightower, 1972

Vice President, Governmental and Legislative Relations for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida. Current chair of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce. Appointed by former President George W. Bush to the Naval Academy Admissions Board and was part of a nine-member panel charged with making recommendations to the Florida Legislature on ways to secure Florida's energy future.

Mr. Michael Howland, 1976

President and CEO of the Southeastern Council of Foundations (SECF), an association of 350 foundations, based in Atlanta. Led an Indianapolis regional charity serving people with disabilities, and the U.S. Small Business Administration in San Francisco. Holds a B.A. from JU and a M.A. and JD from St. Louis University. Member of JU Board of Trustees.

Dr. Franklyn Johnson

First president of Jacksonville University. Visionary who administered transition of Jacksonville Junior College to Jacksonville University. Convinced Dr. Frances Kinne to cancel plans to move to San Diego and become professor at JU. Awarded four Purple Hearts, one Silver Star, four Bronze Stars and named to the French Legion for his actions in World War II. Former President of California State University Los Angeles and author of twelve books, one of which was named among the fifty best books on WWII.

Prof. Janet Johnson

First African-American teacher at JU. Taught education and mentored underprivileged children toward college educations. She was active in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s and 70s. Martin Luther King Jr. met with local leaders in her home. Instrumental in integrating JU, she wrote the original grant proposal to set up Upward Bound at JU and directed that program for many years.

Dr. Mary Kathleen (Kay) Johnson

Professor of Education, founder and director, for thirty years, of Wilma's Little People School. Created a model school for children two to four years old to learn through music, dance, art, gardening and play. Duplicated her successful JU program in London, England.

The Honorable Stan Jordan, 1960

Served on the Duval County Public School Board for sixteen years. Served in the Florida House of Representatives for two terms, 2000-08. Elected to the Duval County School Board. Candidate for the Florida State Senate in 2010.

Dr. Frances Bartlett Kinne

Legendary former President of Jacksonville University. Serves as JU Chancellor Emeritus. At JU, became the world's first female Dean of a College of Fine Arts. Later became first woman president of a college or university in the state of Florida. First female president of the Downtown Rotary Club. Winner of first EVE Award. Author of The President Wore A Skirt, foreword by Bob Hope and Charlton Heston. Listed on 24 who's-who lists, including Who's Who in the World.

Mr. Terrance Mann, 1971

Preeminent Broadway star. Two-time Tony Award nominee. Created roles of Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Rum Tug Tugger in Cats, and Jauvert in Les Miserables. Broadway credits also include A Chorus Line and the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Distinguished professor in musical theater at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina.

Mr. Aleksandar Mihailovic, 1981

First JU soccer All American. Third person in NCAA Division 1 to score more than forty goals and forty assists in career. Ranks sixth in NCAA history with 54 assists. Played professionally for Washington Diplomats and Jacksonville Tea Men. Only JU soccer player to have his jersey number retired. Head coach of the United States Men's National Select Team. Member, Illinois State Soccer Hall of Fame. Charter member of the JU Athletics Hall of Fame.

Mr. Rex Morgan, 1976

Ranks first all time in assists and second in scoring average in JU basketball history. Captained team to NCAA finals in 1970. Selected in the second round of the NBA draft by Boston Celtics that year. Played two seasons with the Celtics (1970-71 and 1971-72). Currently basketball coach of the nationally ranked Arlington Country Day School in Jacksonville. Member of the JU Athletics Hall of Fame. Jersey number was retired.

Mr. Daniel Murphy

Attended JU from 2003-06 and JU baseball All American. Starting first baseman for New York Mets. Batted .313 in rookie season with Mets in 2008 and had ten hits in his first twenty major-league at bats. He spent 2007 season with the High-A St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League. A native of Jacksonville.

The Negaards

Bradley Negaard, 1976

Three-time national champion during his three-year crew career. Coached four crew teams to national titles during ten-year coaching career at JU. Member of the 1979 U.S. Pan American team and the 1991 Master's World Championship 8. Placed fifth in Olympic Trails in 1976 and second at U.S. Team Trails in 1979.

Annette Negaard (nee Kluger), 1980

Coached the Women's 4 to first place at the Florida State Championship, third at the Southern Championship, first at the Women's Regional National Championship and third at Dad Vail National Championships.

Kris O'Brien (nee Negaard), 1981

Placed second in first Women's Olympic rowing trials and won a junior national singles title. Coached at JU, Episcopal High School and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, among others.

Mr. Fred B. Noble, 1967, 1974, 1977

Influential attorney instrumental in starting the university. Served as first Chairman of the Board (for Porter University) in 1938. Served as senior Chairman on the Board until his death at age 94. Earned a law degree from Harvard in 1907. Earned a B.A. in history in 1967, a master's degree in education in 1974 and a B.A. in French in 1977, all from JU. Thought to be the nation's oldest college student at the time, in 1975; recognized by Ripley's for that distinction. Memorialized on campus by the Fred B. Noble Award for Excellence.

Mr. Frank Pace, 1973

One of Hollywood's most prolific producers, with three movies and more than 500 episodes of network television to his credit, including the series Head of the Class, Murphy Brown, Suddenly Susan and George Lopez. Nominated for sixteen Emmy Awards, with wins in four categories. Co-author of the book, Rod Carew's Art and Science of Hitting. Member JU Board of Trustees.

Dr. Jennifer Pascual, 1992

Appointed Director of Music at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in New York City in 2003. First woman to hold this position, one of the most prestigious sacred music appointments in the U.S. Coordinated all of the music for the Pope Benedict XVI visit to NYC in 2008. Can be heard four times a week at the organ from St. Patrick's Cathedral on The Catholic Channel, SIRIUS 159, 8:00 to 8:30 a.m., Eastern time.

Mr. Mike Patrick

Former voice of the dolphins and ESPN broadcaster. Anchored play-by-play broadcasts for ESPN Sunday Night NFL Football, 1987-2005. Member JU Sports Hall of Fame. He has also called college-football games, intercollegiate basketball and the College World Series for ESPN and several NFL playoff games for ABC Sports.

The Perezes

Honorable Paul Perez, 1976

Former U.S. Attorney, appointed by then-President George W. Bush to the position in 2002. Out of 93 U.S. Attorneys across the nation, was one of eighteen who served on the Attorney General's Advisory Committee. Now serves as chief compliance officer of Fidelity National Financial.

Ms. Marta Perez

Long-time professor at JU following the family's immigration from Cuba. Perez chaired the Spanish department, and she was instrumental in making it a popular elective and major.

Prof. Mun Quan

Internationally known painter in the Chinese tradition whose works are in numerous galleries worldwide. Was a professor and medical scientist at the Florida State Board of Health. Honored as JU's Professor of the Year 1982-83.

Mr. James Ray, 1980

JU hoops star who led Dolphins to 1979 NCAA and 1980 NIT tournaments. Fifth player drafted in 1980 NBA draft. Played three seasons in the NBA for the Denver Nuggets. Member JU sports Hall of Fame, jersey number 43 retired.

Dr. Marilyn Repsher

Former Chair of the Department of Mathematics and faculty Vice President. Innovator responsible for JU's adoption of a learning resource center. Named one of only four 1999-2000 U.S. Professors of the Year by The Carnegie Foundation and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

Dr. Jesse (Bill) Robertson, 1960

Beloved JU student, professor and administrator. Instrumental in advancing academics and student life on campus during his forty years at JU. Assisted in creation of pre-med program at JU. Honored as JU's Professor of the Year 1978-79.

Dr. Kerry Romesburg

Recently retired (July 2004 - February 2013) was President of Jacksonville University. Former President of Nevada State College, Utah Valley State College, Utah Valley Community College, and Executive Director of the state higher education coordinating boards for Alaska and Arizona.

Dr. Maurice Rouhlac, 1983

JU basketball star after graduating from Bishop Kenny High School. Scored 1005 points in Dolphin career. Now a widely-respected vascular surgeon in North Carolina. Daughter Tiffany is a pre-med major and starting point guard on the Wake Forrest University basketball team.

Mrs. Mag Black Scott, 1985

Former vice chairman/managing director for Morgan Stanley worldwide offices in Los Angeles. Leading national expert on subject of gender equity in financial and economic marketplace. Listed in Who's Who of American Women. Husband David walked on the moon as a crew member on the Apollo 15 mission. Member of the JU Board of Trustees.

Mr. Michael Shad, 1985

President of the Shad Company. Former Senior District Vice President of the South Florida AutoNation. Awarded Ford Motor Company's highest award for total customer satisfaction, The Chairman's Award. Served in the U. S. Army, including a year's tour in Vietnam with the Green Berets. Former chairman of the JU Board of Trustees.

Mr. Ted Simendinger, 1976

Nationally recognized author whose works include 12 Miles to Paradise; Jurassic Trout An Ensemble Comedy; and Critters, Fish and Other Trouble Makers. Sought-after speaker and humorist who was also the number-one salesman in America for Xerox corporation earlier in his career.

Mr. Otis Smith, 1986

General Manager for the Orlando Magic of the NBA. Drafted by the Denver Nuggets as the 47th pick in 1986 and one of the first twelve players selected by the Magic in the 1991 expansion draft. That year he averaged 13.9 points and 5.2 rebounds. At JU, he scored 1,700 points and grabbed 900 rebounds. Member of JU Athletics Hall of Fame, jersey number retired.

Mrs. Leanza Steines (nee Cornett)

Attended JU from 1989-91. Miss America 1993. First beauty queen to adopt AIDS education and prevention as the theme for her year of service. Host of multiple national TV shows, including Entertainment Tonight (with husband Mark Steines) and Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire (with Jay Thomas).

Mr. John Sessions, 1959

Founded Bug Out Corporation in 1963, one of the largest pest control companies in the Southeast, with annual sales in excess of $14 million. His company is ranked number 39 among the top 100 pest-control companies in U.S. by Pest Control Technology Magazine. Winner of the 2008 Col. Harry Kinne Free Enterprise Award. John Sessions Baseball Stadium on the campus of JU is named in his honor.

Mr. Roger Strickland, 1963

Two-sport athlete and two-time All American at JU (basketball and baseball). First-round draft choice of the L.A. Lakers in 1963 (seventh player overall). Became a high-ranking corporate executive for Southern Bell in Atlanta. Charter member of the JU Sports Hall of Fame, jersey number retired. Member Florida Sports Hall of Fame.

Dr. Thomas (Tom) Terrell, 1986

Member of JU basketball team in 1980s. Earned a B.A. in biology at Jacksonville University, a master-of-philosophy degree in biological anthropology at the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England and his medical degree from Emory University. Consultant with the NCAA regarding their Injury Surveillance System.

Mr. Jay Thomas, 1972

TV and radio personality who starred in Mork & Mindy, Cheers and Murphy Brown, for which he won two Emmy Awards. Co-starred in the feature film Mr. Holland's Opus. Noted for his annual holiday appearances on Late Show with David Letterman. Awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Jay Thomas Show can be heard on SIRIUS daily from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Earned doctorate in psychology from the University of Georgia in 1971.

Honorable David M. Walker, 1976

Comptroller General of the United States and head of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) from 1998 to 2008. Appointed by President Bill Clinton, he served as the federal government's chief auditor under both Democratic and Republican administrations. Current President and CEO of The Peter G. Peterson Foundation.

Honorable William (Will) W. Weatherford, 2003

Member of the Florida House of Representatives representing District 61. Originally elected in 2006 and reelected for a second term. Serves as Chairman of State and Community Colleges and Workforce Appropriations Committee and vice chair of two other committees.

Academic All-American and starting point guard on JU's NCAA basketball finalist team in 1970. Voted Little All American for players under six feet tall. Became a dentist. Member Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame and JU Sports Hall of Fame.

Lectures nationally on various subjects relating to his specialty, reconstructive and orthographic surgery as well as dental implants, arthroscopic and TemporoMandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, facial trauma and surgery for the removal of impacted teeth.

JU professor and administrator for thirty years. Now serving as the Executive Director of Marine Science Research Institute. Devoted career to dealing with the health of the St. Johns River and economic development that could impact the river. Honored as JU's Professor of the Year 1987-88.

Coach Joe Williams

Architect of the greatest athletic accomplishment in school history. As head basketball coach, brought Artis Gilmore to Jacksonville University, along with Rex Morgan and Vaughn Wedeking. Lead JU to national prominence, number-one ranking and 1970 NCAA Basketball Championship Finals.

Mr. George Winterling, 1956

Chief meteorologist for WJXT since 1962. A pioneer of animated weather forecasting. Was presented American Meteorological Society Award for Outstanding Service in 1984. His "space view" weather maps predated satellite imagery. JU adjunct Professor of Meteorology from 1975 to 1994.
