Why were the ghettos made during the holocaust?

The ghettos are important to understanding the holocaust because the death camps weren't the whole story. A lot of people died in the ghettos as they were cut off from everything else and starved of necessities. It was a similar dehumanization that brought out the worst, and occasionally the best, in people.

What were the requirements to get into Hitler's SS?

SS was actually partially a political ideology of the "National Socialists Workers Party", and partially a racist, xenophobic society. One had to not only be "white", but also have characteristics of Aryan genetics, included but not limited to: blue eyes, narrow nose, usually blonde and usually taller than most. Hitler considered them to be of the "master race" and truly believed that Arians were far superior to everyone else. In the beginning, be able to prove true German ancestory, be in peak physical condition (even having a filling in a single tooth could disqualify a Kandidat), and pass the grueling and rigorous training (SS recruits had to dig a foxhole and get in it before a tank ran them over). Later in the war, the requirements were slackened due to issues filling the ranks.

How did Hitler solidy control of Germany?

Hitler controlled Germany in many ways after he became chancellor in 1934. He used propaganda effectively, used his SS and Gestapo (secret police) and the Enabling Act. The SS and Gestapo put fear into Germany, by performing killings. They were trained to shoot people without giving any second thoughts. He used the Gestapo to interrogate the German people, and they sent many of Hitler's enemies to concentration camps where they were put in the mercy of the brutal SS. Hitler got the Enabling Act after the Reichstag fire. This allowed him to pass on any new laws when he wanted to.He used it to get rid of his political opponents by making Germany a one-party-state. He got rid of Communists, Trade Unions and Social Democrats. To control the minds of the young of Germany, Hitler made the "Hitler Youth". This was like boy scouts. Boys there were taught under the Nazi Racial Ideolegy, and learned about Nazi history. Going back to Htler's use of propaganda, Josef Goebbels organised "Hitler over Germany". This gained him more supporters as people saw nothing and heard nothing, apart from Hitler. Hitler also got rid of all priests in churches, as he thought that they were spreading anti- Nazi beliefs. He got rid of them and put his own men in charge of them instead. This is how i think Hitler controlled Germany. I hope you learned smomething about Hitler's control of Germany during his reign from this short essay. By Gregory
