The Zulu (South African English and isiZulu: amaZulu) are a South African ethnic group of about 10 million people who live mainly in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Small numbers also live in Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Mozambique. Their language, isiZulu, is a Bantu language; more specifically, part of the Nguni subgroup. The Zulu Kingdom played a major role in South African History during the 19th and 20th centuries. Under apartheid, Zulu people were classed as second-class citizens and severely discriminated against. Today, they are the most numerous ethnic group in South Africa, and have equal rights along with all other citizens.

The Zulu people (amaZulu) are a African tribe found in Southern Africa.

Their history dates back back to the early 1700's and was formed out of a number of Bantu tribes that had migrated down the east coast of Africa.

The name, Zulu means heaven or sky, so they are often referred to as "people of the sky".

During the 1800's and 1900's they gained notoriety for their battles against the early Dutch and English settlers in Southern Africa, as well as defeat of the British Army at the Battle of Isandlwana.
