By chips, I will assume you mean CPU's.
Intel and AMD currently dominate the CPU market and that shows no sign of changing. ARM Holdings design all the chips currently used in smartphones, but they don't manufacture them, just like Nvidia.

∙ 7y agoDespite this being the type of question that generally cannot be answered, this one can actually be answered since there are currently only 2 major CPU manufacturers for PC compatible computers. The two companies are Intel and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). During the Pentium era, AMD processors were better than comparable Intel processors. However, Intel is once again in the lead in terms of performance.
