The Massachusetts bay Colony. In 1630 John Winthrop led about 1,000 puritans to Massachusetts, founding Boston and many other towns upon arrival. In the 1630's a civil war in England cause another 15,000 people to join the colony. This move is called the Great Migration.
The first puritans came on the Mayflower in 1620, records show that only about 300 were there between 1620-1629. Their significant immigration began in 1630 and ended by 1641 with about 21,000 total immigrants.
