We actually don't know who made the commonly known as the "Leaning Tower of Pisa".

In the past many thought it was Bonanno Pisano, but he only worked to the bronze doors of the Cathedral and there are no proofs he also worked as architect. Diotisalvi, architect of the Baptistery, has more chances to be the author of the project

The tower is the cathedral's bell tower and can be found, of course, in the Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square) on the east side.

It was began in 1173 but due to consistence of soil it began to lean before it was completed. It was completed between 1360 and 1370 after many stops due to wars.
A guy named Bosanno Pisano made it.

Answer:

The Tower of Pisa was made over several years by several people:

  • In 1172 Donna Berta di Bernardo gave money for some of the supplies
  • In 1174 Bonanno was credited as as sculptor, Gerardo di Gerardo and Diotisalvi are the names of an possible contractors
  • Giovanni di Simone completed the tower, under the direction of Giovanni Pisano (perhaps the builder of the belfry tower.)
  • Tommaso di Andrea Pisano designer of the belfry between 1360 and 1370.
  • In 1233 Benenato Bottici oversaw the continuation of the construction of the belltower.
  • In 1260 Guido Speziale oversaw the building of the Tower
  • Guglielmo and Bonanno Pisano are thought to be the architects although others attribute this task to Diotisalvi

Bonanno pisano

The design of the building was attributed to Guglielmo and Bonanno Pisano, however, this is not confirmed yet, as there is a lack of evidence that shows that they actually designed the building.
The designer of the Leaning Tower of Pisa was Bonanno Pisano, he was also known as the architect of the building himself. He soon died years later, and was buried at the foot of the Leaning Tower, where is sarchophagus was laid.

It wasn't intended to be leaning. The third floor was under construction 5 years after the foundations had been laid, when the tower was found to be sinking in at one side. Construction was halted for almost a century, which allowed the ground to settle. After the construction was resumed, engineers built one side of the tower bigger than the other to compensate for the tilt.
