∙ 13y agoAfter World War II Korea was still a whole country controlled by France. Eventually through persuasion from France, America intervened and split the country into two halves: North and South Korea. The North Korea was controlled by a communist leader Kim Il Sung, while South Korea was controlled by America as a democracy. America told the Kim Il Sung there would be elections to be held to allow the people of Korea decide whether they wanted to be controlled by a democratic government or a communist society, believing they would want a democratic government. This attempt failed.
