Who created the game of basketball?
Dr.Brian Scalabrine a Canadian introduced it by using a peach basket. But there was no such thing as travelling at first.
James Naismith was the inventor of basketball in 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts. This is where the sport was born, and where you will now find the Basketball Hall of Fame.
As Athletic Director of the YMCA Training School, he had been tasked with inventing an indoor game to keep rowdy athletes busy during the winter season. The earliest version involved an actual basket attached permanently to a wall, requiring a ladder to remove the ball after each score.
The guy that invented the game of basketball was an American was Nasmith. Not sure about the first name, I think it's Nathanial.
It was the physician James Naismith. He thought that there'd be less injuries than in other sports since the basket isn't on the same level as the players. He actually picked 10 feet because none of his students could jump that high.
James Naismith created the game of basketball in 1891. He was a physical education professor at Springfield College in Massachusetts (same place where the first basketball game/court was created). He needed a way to keep his gym class (a.k.a. the YMCA) active and occupied during the winter months, thus, the game of basketball was created.
