The first FFA jacket was created by a store in Fredericktown, Ohio and was modified by the local Fredericktown high school FFA chapter and worn to the National Convention in 1933. It was liked so much that it was made the official dress of the FFA. The jacket store no longer exists, but the building is still there and can be seen right on main street. The original high school was demolished a few years ago where the FFA chapter originally resided.

The FFA jacket was designed by Dr. Gus Lintner of Ohio.

The story behind the FFA jacket was told to me by a national officer Cain Thurman at my NLCSO in 2012. The story behind the jacket. was the national convention was help later and it was snowing out and the adviser, Dr. Gus didn't want his kids cold. and when he was walking by a hardware store he saw a corduroy jacket with a bunch of tool logos on it and it made him think. He walked into the hardware store and ask the man behind the counter where he had bought the jacket in the window. He gave him the number and he gave the company a call. He said to them. He wants a blue corduroy jacket with our emblem on the back with the state above the jacket and the county below it. Then on the front he said he wanted an smaller emblem on the front left and there name and station and year on the front left. when they went to nationals everyone loved the jackets and asked where they got them from they kept saying there advisor. The National Jacket now, was adopted in 1933 at the 5 national convention.
