Miranda v. Arizona, 384 US 436 (1966)
Miranda v. Arizona was appealed to the US Supreme Court from the Supreme Court of Arizona, having been heard exclusively in the Arizona court system. Only one of the three cases consolidated with Miranda, Westover v. United States, was heard in federal court, in the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. The remaining two cases, Vignera v. New York and California v. Stewart, were heard in their respective state systems.
Chief Justice Earl Warren delivered the opinion of the Court in Miranda v. Arizona.
